Key is an important element to start your car. In order to start it without a key, one needs to bypass the ignition lock which should only be done when you lost your key. It can only be done by connecting ignition cord to the battery cord followed by touching the starter cord to the connection. The process is simple with the cars manufactured during pre-1990 as vehicles after are coming with immobilizers and alarms which are also need to be bypassed. These days manufacturers have made keyless entry possible a push button start, means cars can only be used when the smart device is close to the driver. You are no more required to open the vehicle manually.

To perform such functions one needs to understand all the technologies related to battery, ignition system and starter cord. Once cords in action have been identified, one may require three clip lead and a  screwdriver. The panel below steering wheel should be opened to access wires and the insulation of these wires needed to remove. Make sure that wires do not touch the metal or each other and then leads to being clipped to the exposed portion.

Once the said things are done, now the only thing to do is to connect with battery with ignition cord, which will turn the car lights on. At the very moment, starter to be touched to battery and ignition cord, but proper care to be taken to avoid sparks. This will start with the engine.

However, this is only possible with cars produced before 1969, after that companies equip their vehicles with steering locks which can only be activated with a physical key or ECU (electrical control unit).

How do car locks works?

All types of electronic car locks follow standard features. The lock works through a radio signal sent by a key fob, which signals actuator to activate, it then sends command and performs its duty, i.e. locks or unlock the vehicle.

Once activated, the actuator unit moves the actuator rods behind the lock mechanism. The rod now puts pressure on the lock open switch on the back of the door lock mechanism. The created pressure results open the jaws on the lock mechanism, releases jaws due to strike on center pillar. The process connects door handles with locking mechanism. It will open when you lift the lever inside or outside door handle.

Computer controlled locks

The computer controlled locking system uses radio signals to lock or unlock the door. It sends out programming to the key controller module. The key controller module controls the locking and unlocking of the door along with the auto security. The system is also able to disable drivability in case of thieves. The very same controlling module have access to the trunk lid, the remote start of car, power windows and can kill the ignition. Even an engine mobilizer is a controlled unit. You cannot start the engine unless you have transponder key handy. An important thing, if the key battery is dead, you won’t be able to use it to unlock the vehicle.

The automotive central locking system prevents possible thefts and has made it very easy for the owners to access the vehicle. Any issues with it needed to be taken seriously as it acts as a shield against thieves. Only good quality items to be used as they come with manufacturer warranty which covers you from defective items. The quality of products gives you the assurance of long life to it.
